Privacy Policy

Rust Cow Tracker (rustcowtracker.com) is run by Sypher Technologies LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions: syphertechai@gmail.com.

1. What we collect and why

Your cows and servers

• Auto-save: your cows, servers and settings are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device, so they survive a refresh. This data isn't sent to us. You can turn auto-save off in the banner at the top of the tracker, which deletes the saved copy, or clear it in your browser settings.
• Live activity view: while the tracker is open, it sends a snapshot of your current list (cows, servers, filters and whether you're sharing) to our database every few seconds under a random ID that isn't linked to you, and doesn't include your name, email or IP address. The site's administrator can see these snapshots live to understand how the tracker is used and to fix problems. Each snapshot is deleted about 90 seconds after you close the page; we don't keep a history of them.
• Shared lists: if you click Share live, that list is stored in our database so the people you send the link to can see it. Anyone with the link can view it (and edit it, for edit links). It stays stored until you click Stop sharing, which deletes it.
• Import/Export: files you export or import stay on your device.
• Reading cows from your screen: if you use Watch screen or Read a screenshot, the picture is read entirely inside your browser to find the animal info panel. Screen frames and screenshots are never uploaded or saved. Your browser asks your permission before sharing a screen, and you can stop at any time. The text-reading library is downloaded from a public code host (jsDelivr) the first time you use it.
• Discord alerts: if you add a Discord webhook link, it's saved only in your browser, and updates (animal names, herd numbers and genes) are sent straight from your browser to Discord. They don't go through our servers.
• Family records and value estimates: parents you pick for an animal, and the estimates the tracker works out, are part of your saved herd in your browser.

Feedback

If you send feedback, we store your message, the type (idea, bug, other) and any contact details you choose to add. The message is also emailed to the site administrator. We keep feedback until we delete it.

Usage statistics

• We count anonymous events per day, like "a visit", "a cow was added" or "a list was exported". These are totals only, with nothing that identifies you.
• We use Vercel Web Analytics, which records page views, referring sites, country and device type without cookies and without building a profile of you.

Advertisers

• Ad account: your email address and your password, which we store only as a secure one-way hash. When you log in, a session token is saved in your browser so you stay signed in for up to 30 days.
• Your ads: the text, links, images and design you submit, the spot you pick, run dates, and how many views and clicks each ad gets. Images you upload are publicly viewable, because they appear on the site.
• Payments: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe tells us the payment ID, amount, currency, email and whether it was refunded, so we can confirm your ad was paid for.
• Emails: we send you emails about your ads, such as when an ad is about to end, and password-reset links.

Ad views and clicks

When an ad is shown or clicked, we add one to that ad's view or click count. We don't record who saw or clicked it.

Technical data

Like every website, our hosting and database providers process your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and keep it secure. They may keep these in short-term server logs. We don't store IP addresses in our own database.

2. Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your information. We use these service providers to run the site, and they only process data for us:

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users from fraud or abuse.

3. Cookies and browser storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site uses your browser's local storage only for things that make it work: your auto-saved cows, your auto-save setting, your advertiser sign-in, and a once-per-visit counter flag.

4. How long we keep things

• Live activity snapshots: deleted about 90 seconds after you leave.
• Shared lists: until you stop sharing.
• Feedback: until we delete it.
• Advertiser accounts, ads and payment records: as long as your account exists, and as long as needed for our tax and accounting records.
• Daily usage counts: kept as anonymous totals.

5. Your choices and rights

• Turn off auto-save, or clear your browser's site data, at any time.
• Stop sharing a list to delete it from our database.
• Advertisers can ask us to see, correct or delete their account information by emailing syphertechai@gmail.com. Some payment records must be kept for tax reasons.
• If you live in California, the EU/UK or another place with privacy laws, you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to delete it. Email syphertechai@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We don't sell or "share" personal information for advertising.

6. Children

The site isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.

7. Security

Connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, database access goes through locked-down functions, and admin tools require a verified admin sign-in. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what we hold.

8. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will be noted on the site.
